Book Reviews, Anyone?

Every year I tell myself that I will read at least 52 books. That’s a book a week- something I firmly believe should be the absolute minimum for bookworms.
Every year I fail. Last year I came close. I managed to read 30+ books, but it’s just not good enough.

This year, I put together a small book club in the hopes that if I actually tell people I have goals, maybe, just maybe, I will reach them.  The goal is to read at least 4 books a month, but alas, I have been failing at that too. At least I have been reading  consistently though!

I am mentioning this because I just realised that the 5 books I have read so far this year have all been brilliant. I am on a winning streak it seems!

I initially planned to review all the books I read on BookTube, but with my technological setbacks and lack of resources it just wasn’t possible. This won’t stop me though, because today I remembered I have a blog (duh!).

I posted on Facebook earlier that I would review my most recent finish- Knife’s Edge by Malorie Blackman- right here, but I have a slight case of OCD. I will have to review the books I read in order, or else it will haunt me forever.

So, keep your eyes peeled for my reviews of

  • The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tokien
  • A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L ’Engle
  • Yes Man by Danny Wallace
  • The Ice House by Minette Walters

And

  • Noughts & Crosses and Knife’s Edge by Malorie Blackman.

Once I get these reviews out of the way, I’m hoping to make the reviews consistent, say once a week, probably on Sundays. What do you think of that? I won’t make any promises, but I will try.

I have also checked out The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce from the library, so I will review those soon as well.

I really have to catch up on my 4 books a month idea. 3 months in, and I have only read 5 books. How embarrassing!

Let me know if you review books on your blog. Also, let me know if you have read any of the books I mentioned above. Have a fantastic day (or night if, like me, you live in SA)!

  1. I’ve not read any of the books on your list but I’ve got a ‘to-read’ list to match it. There’s a Wednesday round up that I try to do once a month that’s based on ‘What I’ve read’, ‘What I’m reading,’ ‘What I’m going to read’.

  2. I can relate. I’m trying for 50 books this year, and already am behind. I also review books on my blog and do author interviews. I strongly believe in paying it forward. I will check out your books and hope you may want to check out mine (my book comes out Friday!).
